Yoga Retreat at the beach? Yes, we are bringing it back, and the timing is SO right!

It’s time to get swept away once again to the amazing boho beach town of Atlantic Beach Florida for our annual Beach Vibes Yoga Retreat. We come together from all over the United States for yoga and mindfulness, connection, and creating deep community. And now is the time.

I feel like as a Nation we miss community, free-spiritedness and being inspired. We are too connected down and in and have lost sight of the living together in the out and up.

And while yoga retreats have the potential to change our lives in the future, they also give us a chance to review our past, and man, did we ALL have quite the past. It’s not often I fall into a mindset of: its not worth it. Prior to Covid changing everyone’s life, I was running yoga retreats, working in Costa Rica, building a new studio space and cultivating community and connection locally. I truly felt alive, excited, ready, and that professionally I was about to launch.

After Covid, I tried to reschedule as much as I could through uncertainty, push out timelines and reschedule the retreats multiple times, answer questions that were unanswerable about if there would be another shut down, and what would happen to the deposits that were being housed overseas.

Ultimately, I had to cancel the planned and reserved retreats, lost the international deposits, paid out of pocket to return as much as I was able to those who had booked, lost a couple friends, and ultimately lost my why. That is where the “its not worth it” mentality crept in.

I did do some epic and cool things in the interim since I last blogged here. I helped build The Forge School for Embark Behavioral Health with my love Joe Barnard. I became a certified Health Coach and worked as the Director of the Weight Loss Clinic at Nutrition World in Chattanooga, and lived in a couple amazing places. But, my yoga practice was lost, I had also lost faith in my ability to bring people together to show up as a yoga community through my yoga retreats.

Over the last 6 months I got back on my mat constantly and in the process found an amazing yoga community where I work and also practice. I began to feel the embers of hope ignite and began to think about hosting yoga retreats once again. I know myself, if I don’t lay-down bread crumbs of commitment, It will just be another thing I wished I did, but I didn’t.

With this mindset I slowly pushed planning forward and then I read an Instagram post with a quote within and it said,

” At some point you let go of control, you look at the raw materials of your life and go, “I can make something extraordinary with this” And you start to build, right from where you are planted. You don’t wait for it all to line up. You line it up yourself brick by brick.”

And there was my sign.

Beach Vibes Retreat

One thing I know for certain, post Covid we all miss each other. As a Nation we miss community, free-spiritedness and being inspired. We are too connected down and in and have lost sight of the living together in the out and up. These images are from a past weekend yoga retreat and to me this speaks of the possibility of living in the out and up. Joy, connection, and being with and for each other and in the trenches of life for one weekend away.

My “almost annual” Beach Vibes retreat in Atlantic Beach, FL at Hotel Palms is live and since announcing it recently, it is 100% Sold Out and waitlisted. Wow how we show up for each other! THIS response makes me know in my bones, Yes, it IS definitely worth it. I know I have no control over that wind, but I know I can control how I work the sails! It’s time to get after it again.
